Once Upon a Halloween Night

"Once Upon a Halloween Night" is a middle grade fantasy tale of ghost named Vernon Boggs. On his deathbed many, many years ago, Vernon cursed his dysfunctional family for their spiteful and hateful behavior, and he promised to haunt them. The trouble, as Boggs discovers, is that curses go both ways. He is bound to the house and family land because of the curse. He cannot move on.

One Halloween night, he befriends a teenage witch named Lucy. With the help of a magic substance called Wind-dough, Lucy helps Boggs leave his prison one time a year. Boggs chooses Christmas Eve because it was the most cherished time of the year for himself and his wife Joy. Soon Boggs realizes he is forgetting about Joy and the problems of the living, namely his distant relatives that live in the family home, are pushing his memories aside. If a ghost forgets, then he has nothing. Boggs soon understands that he must escape the curse, but time is running out.
